GH@W Success Story
Orwell Housing Strengthens Commitment to Workplace Wellbeing with a Good Health @Work Gold Award
Orwell Housing joined the Good Health @Work (GH@W) programme as part of a renewed focus on building a workplace culture grounded in wellbeing. Having previously achieved a healthy workplace award, the team saw this as the ideal moment to reassess their progress, re-benchmark their practices, and take the next step in their wellbeing journey.
Tailored support to strengthen wellbeing culture.
With the support of GH@W Navigators Gail Jones and Kate Nudds, Michelle Harrison, Director of People and Culture at Orwell Housing, developed a personalised action plan to further embed employee wellbeing across the organisation.
The Good Health @Work assessment served as both a reflective and strategic tool, helping the organisation celebrate what was working well while also identifying areas for further improvement.
Shifting focus to prevention and proactive support.
While Orwell Housing already had a strong foundation of positivity, inclusivity, and employee-led initiatives, Michelle and her team recognised the opportunity to deepen their focus on early intervention and preventative wellbeing strategies.
The GH@W process gave them the clarity and structure needed to update their Health, Safety and Wellbeing Strategy and roll out their new Wellbeing Guidance. This strengthened their approach to proactively supporting colleagues, ensuring everyone across the organisation feels valued, empowered, and heard.
Achieving Gold, and looking ahead.
Their hard work and dedication paid off with the successful achievement of the GH@W Gold Award, a recognition of their ongoing commitment to continuous improvement in workplace wellbeing.
But for Orwell Housing, this is just the beginning. Now proud members of the Good Health @Work Ambassador Network, they are ready to share their knowledge, inspire others, and support fellow organisations along their wellbeing journeys.
Hear from the team.
“The process was so straightforward!” shared Michelle. “After reaching out via the website, we were quickly connected and given clear criteria to assess where we stood. There were no ‘right or wrong’ answers, just an opportunity to reflect on what we do well and where we could grow. The support throughout was fantastic, and I’d highly recommend it to any organisation looking to boost colleague engagement and wellbeing.”
GH@W Navigator Gail Jones added:
“Working with Orwell Housing has been an absolute pleasure. Their proactive approach to wellbeing is inspiring, and they’ve embraced the process not just for recognition, but as a springboard for future growth. Their leadership in this space will undoubtedly encourage many others to follow suit.”
