GH@W Success Story

Supporting Small Business Growth Through the Good Health @Work Programme.

When Rebecca Garrod launched her reflexology and wellness practice, Valvaere, in 2023, wellbeing was already at the heart of her mission. But like many small business owners, she encountered common growing pains, navigating time management, setting clear boundaries, and establishing formal business policies, especially as she launched a new initiative supporting neurodiverse and disabled children.

She also wanted to build confidence, develop new services, and grow her business sustainably, without losing sight of her values.

From vision to action: turning growth goals into reality.

With one-to-one support from GH@W Advisor Lin Smith, Rebecca received tailored guidance that helped her align her personal values with structured business growth. Through focused conversations, resources, and tools, the programme offered clarity, direction, and practical solutions.

Key areas of support included:

✔ Creating a clear business plan and 90-day action strategy to sharpen focus and boost accountability
✔ Advice and templates for formalising key policies and producing a staff handbook
✔ Support for sustainability initiatives, including a refillable packaging incentive for clients
✔ Help progressing community partnerships, such as collaborations with Christies Care and Lighthouse
✔ Confidence-boosting conversations that sparked new ideas and clarified next steps

Progressing towards Bronze with purpose

Thanks to the GH@W programme’s structured support, Rebecca is now well on her way to achieving the Bronze Award, already seeing noticeable benefits across her business—from stronger client engagement and clearer planning to a renewed sense of motivation and purpose.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Lin and to get her support as I continue to expand my Reflexology and Wellness business.

The subject of Good Health @Work is close to my heart, and I was delighted to be given the opportunity to begin the award. I had not heard about the programme before, and Lin’s enthusiastic and kind attitude was instrumental in my decision to sign up. The whole process so far has been seamless.

Lin is so approachable and with her support, setting actions was easy. Having these in mind has enabled me to be more focused on particular aspects of my business. Through discussions with Lin, I can now identify the progress I have made and am excited to continue through the other awards to set more challenges and develop my business knowledge further.”
